Dresser I am going to look at and hopefully buy for second project!

As I have been saying I have been looking daily on craigslist, etsy, thrift stores and hitting the garage sales on the weekends looking high and low for the perfect dresser for my bedroom. I knew I wanted french provincial my new obsession but has been hard to find someone selling just the dresser without the mirror or entire set. Since we have our tv mounted on the wall above the dresser we can not use the mirror and we have an upholstered headboard plus two gorgeous metal embossed with mirror night stands I snatched up at Home Goods, so we don't need anything but a long dresser and a tall one. I have a want ad on Craigslist for dressers and today I got a text from a lady and loved the photo she sent me. Took a little haggling to get her to sell without the mirror then come down to $100 which has been my budget since I started looking, another reason I haven't found one yet cause down here they run about 300-500 in good condition any cheaper they are damaged or missing knobs. I am going to look at this one shortly and hopefully this is the one. I have big plans for her and she doesn't even know it lol.

I want her to be white a nice bright satin white with silver top and trim then silver metallic or maybe satin nickel knobs. I can't wait. I love that it has the cabinet with three drawers inside, my newer dresser we are exchanging her out for has this feature and I love it for my personal items and lingerie. I can't wait. I will post more photos tomorrow if I get her=)!

My first two dresser projects!

Here is the linger chest I got off craigslist for my daughter's room. This is before which wasn't a bad color but my daughter likes bright funky colors and wanted silver knobs. Plus the paint job was awful, large drips and lots of brush strokes then they only applied one thick coat so there was some white showing through. We are still deciding on the colors, for now priming, sanding and patching chips.

I am excited to have finally started my first dresser! I started priming the dresser I got for my daughter. It is a french provincial piece, lingerie chest. It was painted a soft green but we decided that since we wanted to try painting them ourselves that we would go get all the supplies and start. The weather here hasn't been good for spray painting, it has been either rainy or windy and even though there was wind today we still hit the side of the house and pulled off the knobs, primed them gray, sanded down the drips and dings in the drawers, then primed 3 drawers white, 3 more to go! The knobs now are a silver, shiny color and look amazing. I am hooked just one time painting. It is amazing what spray paint can do lol.

I am using Kryon I believe spray paint that I purchased for under $4 a can. Got white and gray primer, then satin white for the body and metallic silver for the knobs. We are going to paint the front of the drawers on the part that is recessed out different neon bright colors that can glow in the black light for my 12 year old's bedroom. Those colors will be hand painted on then thinking of doing some stenciling of zebra print since her room is neon colors with zebra print. I will figure out as I go a long. I can't wait for another good day of weather to finish priming the drawers and body of the dresser so I can get a good solid coat of white satin on the entire piece. The knobs look amazing, love the metallic silver paint wanted to paint the entire dresser silver and black but my daughter reminded me it is going in her room lol. After and during photos coming soon, stay tuned...

My first project with furniture!

I love this room, silver, gray, purple and it has the silver/mirrored looking furniture.
I have become a huge fan of Tracey's Fancy on Etsy.com. Her work is amazing! So talented I hope to one day be half as good as her and be able to save up enough to buy a custom piece from her collection. Check out her stuff if you are looking for hand painted custom french dressers or furniture=)
Okay here it is a similar serving cart like my first project I started this blog topic about lol!
I love this, me and the animal prints! Found this one surfing the web and didn't write down the link to where the photo came from but someone very talented for sure!
Gorgeous dresser

This is a rocking chair I am going to look at on Thursday, possibly to use in my bedroom. I have always wanted a chair that is this style and I love this one=).

Okay this is the chandelier I mentioned below for my dinning room, I saw it on Pottery Barn website then found one on Craigslist for a couple hundred less. I think it is perfect. It is bronze and it has crystals but not the fancy tear drop style more unique with the round shaped ones I think. I really think this will look nice but still have that elegant vintage quality to it.
Saw this on a blog site and look it's the same chandelier I want, love it and I love the sunburst mirror, looking for one similar with silver and gold finish for my bedroom above the bed.

This is a set I found on craigslist that I am hoping won't be sold before hubby's day off cause I want to go look and if in good condition possibly buy for my first dressers to refinish. I think they are gorgeous and can already see it silver with black details.
Saw one of these for my entry way earlier in the month for $300 and then last night found this one for only $50 looks the same pretty much. Love it. Hoping it is still available on Thursday
This is the tall chest that goes with the dresser I want to buy, this would go on hubby's side for the security camera box and mount the tv above it.
Okay this one is almost identical to the one I will be posting before photos of later this week and then be refinishing for my family room. Mine has the top that opens to a circle shaped top for more room. I love it=). My dad would be so happy I saved it from his storage and plan to fix him up and put it in the house.

Okay so I mentioned last week that I have become obsessed with vintage furniture or also known as the french provincial style. You also see a lot of this furniture classified as shabby chic cause they will paint it white and distress it for that kind of look. I love it all whether it is wood, cherry, shabby chic, the original paint but my favorite is the style I have found on other blogs and some amazing ladies on Etsy do some work that I die for. I have decided that since I love interior design, painting and creating things plus DIY projects this is going to be my new hobby. I hope to maybe eventually turn it into a business venture but for now since I am trying to finish the redecorating of my master suite and the entry way of my home, also the family room, I want to snatch up some of this gorgeous furniture and see what I can come up with. I posted a few inspirations and I have done a lot of googling for not only photos that inspire the style and look I want, but also the techniques and DIY advice. I have found some amazing how to videos and site on spray painting these pieces and also use of glaze or dry brushing. I have so many that it is hard to decide what I want to do first.

I have painted furniture and pieces before, when we redid our master bathroom I had these horrible late 70's early 80's cabinets in our bathroom. The previous owner had done a quick and cheap remodel to sell the house and mostly replaced the tile, shower doors and counter top but kept the original cabinets, sinks, toilet and then the stuff he did replace must have been what ever was on clearance or cheapest he could find at stores or garage sales. We spent a lot of money ripping out walls, gutting the kitchen and replacing all the flooring, base boards, lights and fans in the house. We also had the ceiling scrapped and put knockdown cause I hate the 80's style popcorn ceilings. The one thing we never got around to doing was the bathrooms, like I explained the previous owner did redo them but not to the liking or style I would have wanted but decent enough to where we could move in and live with them for awhile. So about a year after we purchased the home I had enough off the dark 80's cabinets so I removed all the doors lightly sanded them, then painted them white. I replaced the knobs with some silver ones to match the towel holder and other accessories in the bathroom, then removed the mirrors, which I hate and painted those white. I want to buy new mirrors but haven't found any that I love. The painting experience over all went good, it really made a huge difference and I was amazed how easy it was to refinish them and that I didn't really have to do a lot to them, they came out nice. I want to eventually retile the bathroom, add a seat or bench in the shower and then get a new double sink vanity and counter but for now it is decent. I started thinking that one of these vintage dressers would look gorgeous painted and used as a vanity. I was honestly considering for the kid's bathroom, when we bought the house they had done basically the same thing in that bathroom, the vanity is a cheap white formica one from home depot with the sink and counter that is plain cream. I replaced the ugly mirror right away with one I had from my previous house in Paige's room that is a silver tone, I think I got it on clearance at Kirkland's for like $25 a year before we moved in. That bathroom I have done in hot pink and black, the look I was going for was a fashion, girly diva room. I have hot pink and black, zebra print, lots of silver and crystal accent pieces, a black vintage style sewing molds that looks like a bust with hot pink crystals on it I got for $20 on clearance at Marshall's and a lot of cute little photos of purses, makeup and little sayings about shopping and being a diva. I will post photos soon, but I think the bathroom would look cute with one of these dressers painted white with a nice stone or marble top and sink, then have a couple of the drawers with a zebra print and some with pink or black polka dots. Then I would do silver tone hardware to match the silver in the bathroom already. I have a candle chandelier in there now but thinking maybe of getting a large one with light bulbs to hang in the center, I currently have the can, or recessed lights in there but think the chandelier would tie it all together so nice.

Anyways, so rambling off subject lol. Going to post a few more photos and so excited that this week I am going to buy some dressers and possibly a full french bedroom set to use in Paige's room. Yes I am even thinking of adding new furniture to her room, I just repainted and changed the accents and bedding in her room, she picked this rainbow, bright colors with animal print so it's wild but I think the furniture is so gorgeous and found a couple sets on craigslist I love. I bought her furniture she has at rooms 2 go when we bought the house for 800 and just settled with it cause I wanted something new and queen size to use if we had guests. It is not my style at all and she isn't to into it either but for the price it was perfect. Now I am ready to start this new hobby and what better way then to start with pieces for my own house and then if I don't like them or love them I buy something else and sell that set. lol.

So my first piece, sorry I get so off topic is going to be a vintage, antique serving cart with wheels and the top has folding leaf style so that it can be expanded into a larger round cart. This was a piece my father bought and had in the storage unit. I don't know what about it made me want to bring it home with me a few months ago when we visited the unit but it has been on my back patio and has gotten a beating from the rain. It is solid wood, I am thinking once it is refinished to use it in my family room next to the amazing wing back vintage chair I bought off craigslist for 35 around thanksgiving. Then I also have two wall shelves that are wood, a formica cheap walmart find bookshelf that use to be in Paige's room and a small side table or old phone table that was my Grandma's that I want to sand and paint white or shabby chic for the guest room/studio office space. So I am going to post some pics of the items I plan to paint, starting with one of a similar serving cart till I can download my own photos then will start the process later this week once I fill my cake and cupcakes orders. I am going to post a lot of photos of my home before and afters cause we have repainted and done some little things to change up here and there. I would love to find the original photos of this house when we bought it then when we moved in to show the work we did cause this house was a hot mess when we purchased it almost 4 years ago, wow can't believe it has been that long. Now to start my fun and new hobby.

Also I am a huge fan of pinterest.com and have pinned some amazing DIY stuff on their I plan to start like using recycled pizza boxes for paintings, a stenciling project and I am looking for a new chandelier for our dinning room, I have to have a real chandelier meaning one with crystals on it. Now this isn't really my taste so finding one that is my taste and goes with my love for wrought iron and bronze metal decor I think I may have found one that is my style but still has that classy crystal vintage look that I mean when I say real chandelier lol. So now off to upload a few photos. Enjoy and I can't wait to start sharing my new hobby=).

My new passion, VINTAGE FURNITURE

Starting with my favorite from a blog I found, you all need to check out her work she is amazing! It is Mychampagnetaste.blogspot.com. This is by far my favorite one I have found yet, she did some amazing stenciling on the sides in black, I even look the frame and jewelry box! This is my dream dresser, can't wait to buy my set to get started=).

Love this sofa. Hubby would never allow it but a girl can dream right lol;)

I also love the glossy black with silver trim, knobs and top this is another option I am considering, My room is gray with a gray, white and silverish blue faux finished wall but I have a lot of animal print and purple with burgundy bedding and pillows. So hard to decide wish I had like 3 bedrooms lol, may have to sell all our bedroom sets and redo every room. Hubby would kill me.

This matches my night stand I found for an amazing deal at Home Goods with the embossed metal but mine has mirrored top, sides and drawer fronts. I can't find dressers like this anywhere locally and all the ones online are super expensive and shipping is outrageous. That is what led to me getting into the vintage french provincial dressers I was looking for an option for something silver and black I could refinish myself and came across the top dresser at mychampagnetaste so now I am dreaming about the stuff lol
Love this over the top fancy chair, no where to put it but LOVE IT!
Wish I found this beauty before they sold it this was listed on Etsy.com

I love this hot pink desk. Wish I didn't have a desk for me or Paige, I could always sell the ones we have! lol.

I even loves these in white just picturing glossy white with silver knobs and top and maybe silver trim on the drawers and detail areas. Gorgeous.

This is another lady I discovered on Etsy, she is so talented even considering ordering one from her this one would look gorgeous since my headboard and chair have the nail head border and the black and silver is gorgeous!

I have a stencil with the chandelier, got it to reproduce a canvas painting I saw for 100 for Paityn's room and decided I could make it for under 20 myself bought the 3 canvas pieces and all the paints just haven't started it, get so busy baking and doing parties/event's never have time for my own projects, my office, master bedroom, kid's room and moroccan patio are all started but not complete. One day lol and then I will post photos for everyone to see. I have a bunch of before and during shots just got to finish to get the after shots for show.
So gorgeous and glam!

I have found a new passion and I am so excited to have a few extra dollars to start investing in pieces. I first plan to do a set for my bedroom since I am still trying to finish that project, then I would love to do some pieces for my entry way, home office/craft studio then eventually once I get the hang of it, I plan to start doing it as a little business. Buying the vintage pieces and customizing them for clients. I love DIY projects and painting is one of my favorites. I can't wait to get started. I have been searching the web for blog sites of people who do just that. I have found some amazing talented ladies on Etsy.com and some other blog sites. They have inspired me so much that I have been up late two nights in a row looking at photos, reading how to's and watching how to videos. I scored yesterday I always look on craigslist for furniture and free items daily when I have time and scored twenty cans of barely used paint, stains and protective top coats. I also got some cans of spray paint and primer for free. The colors are all different from greens, blues, yellows, tans, and even some funky colors, got to love free. I plan to use these for some different projects I have planned. I have a couple of pieces here around the house like shelves, cabinets and a rolling wooden cart I want to refinish, then a small table that I use to use as a bed side table when we only had one night stand, it was my grandmother's and is a vintage phone stand. It is wood now but since the new home office/craft room/guest room has a lot of white stuff in it I want to redo it white with a silver top. Then I have 2 wall shelves that are white and 2 large green ones that will be painted white, and now that we have redone our room everything use to be gold, brown and bronze well now that the room is gray with silver I want to redo the frames, I have some that are black that I will leave but there are several that are brown with gold trim that I plain to prime and then paint black and use silver trim. I have some amazing stencils by Martha Stewart that one day while I was out with my little one I stumbled across in the clearance section and got as many as I could find, thinking I will put these to use one day! Well I have seen some amazing wall murals with stencils, wall art, paintings and trim on some of the furniture so I plan to use these very soon. With summer coming I am hoping that Paige will get involved too since she is crafty and loves to paint so that we can have a mother daughter bonding experience and paint the stuff together. I may even break down and sell her bedroom set so I can customize a gorgeous set for her. Same with my little one, I got her a steal on one of those vintage mirrored looking night stands at Tuesday morning for 69 was originally 380 then 249 then 140 and then 69. It looks stunning but she has her old huge hutch style dresser I got before she was born and it may need to be painted and mirrored or silver leaf project to make it glam. I have so many ideas and projects don't want to overwhelm y'all with them lol. Going to post some photos I clipped from the web and started a folder for inspiration just to show you what I love and what I am talking about with my new hobby. Enjoy the photos and if you are out garage sale shopping or come across any pieces like these please text or call me and lmk or grab them for me I am going to be picking up as many as I can find that are a good deal price wise. Thank you and I will be posting some tips for painting these dressers, staining, and so much more shortly. If you are also looking to do some projects like this join pinterest.com they have lots of great photos and how to's on there. Love that site.
