DIY Hurricane Candle Holders! Cost $2

I am pretty sure everyone has a local Dollar Tree where they live, I got this idea from a you tube video that dollar tree posted on my facebook as one of their posts. I go there all the time and I have tons of their candle sticks, candle plates, vases, candy dishes etc. These were so simple to make I bought some adhesive from Dollar tree that works on glass, sand paper then candle stick holders, vases in several sizes, candy dish, candle dish and other cool little things I thought would make cute candle holders, candy dishes, or cake plates. I simply sanded the area I was going to apply the glue, then wiped it down to make sure the surface was clean, applied the adhesive to both the candle stick and the bottom of the vases, pulled apart and let sit for 5 minutes then re applied the vase to the stick, then let dry overnight. Then for $2 plus an additional $2 for the glue and sandpaper which can be used for many of these, you have an amazing hurricane candle holder, potpourri holder, candy holder, you could even put lemons or fruit, or hot glue a wick to the bottom and pour wax inside and make a large candle. It is an amazing DIY idea and I made three so far and tomorrow I am going to make some with lids, I got these amazing glass candy jars that came with lids that look cute on top of the candle sticks. Got to love Dollar Tree, then you can buy rocks, sand, potpourri, candles, shells, fake fruit or even fake flowers from Dollar tree to put inside. They make great gift ideas, party centerpieces, party favors, or just great to use around your home. I am going to use some for my candy stations at parties to fill with lots of sugar filled treats=). Enjoy and let me know if you make some, send me some pictures.

Diaper cakes to match custom cakes for baby showers;)

Made for my friend for her new baby, put a towel, washclothes, soap, shampoo, powder, lotion, pacifier, and a monkey stuffed animal, also used a swaddling blankey to wrap the wash clothes in same color scheme, neutrals cause when I got the stuff didn't know if baby was a boy or girl. Came out cute, got some nice fabric that was see thru and pale yellow almost like tulle to wrap it in and I made a bow with a mini monkey pacifier holder in the center, didn't take pictures of it wrapped, not sure why thought I did

Bridal shower cake, custom ordered and designed

BuTtErFlIeS! Great for birthday, shower and wedding

I love butterflies, who doesn't they are so gorgeous and fragile. They look amazing on cakes and cupcakes. Great for bridal showers, baby showers, weddings, and birthday cakes.

She loved this for her rehearsal dinner and it came out amazing this i used the left over butterflies from the cupcakes I made her for the cake tasting which was attended at my home by her, her future husband and the mother of both the bride and groom.

These butterflies are paper ones I found at the craft store and look so realistic it is amazing, they are delicate and come in many colors, I attach them to picks and then stick them where needed, I can also make them out of sugar paste to be edible just won't look as realistic. I was asked to make a wedding cake by client with butterflies in her color scheme and flowers, so for the tasting when she came to taste all my amazing home made batters I put together some cupcakes and used these paper style butterflies to show her them, she was in love=). Nothing like another happy client and especially a bride to be. A wedding cake is the most important of all the cakes I make cause they are for a couple's special day, a day they will never forget and I was nervous at first to make my first wedding cake, luckily it was an easy request just white fondant with red ribbon and red rose petals which came out gorgeous, was a little testing because she wanted re velvet cake and to cover red with white fondant is challenging you don't want the color to show through but I used buttercream and did a thick coat for the crumb coat and it was perfect.

Here is the amazing cake finished, the top is a foam ball covered in fondant so that I could have something sturdy to push the flowers into. She went with white butterflies so it wasn't to busy but I made her a cake for her dinner the night before the wedding with all her family using the colored ones I had bought. The bottom of the cake is a 3 layer red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, the covered with white marshmallow fondant, this is the part they cut for there photos and cause her wedding was turquoise and peach/light pink I went easy on the red coloring so the cake looked the same as the flowers on top, almost like a pink/peach velvet, from what she told me was gorgeous and delicious waiting for her proofs from the photographer wedding was New Years Eve=). I then did a yellow moist cake for second layer which is a 12" round, then a 8" round dark decadent chocolate one of my most popular next to red velvet flavors, this way her guests had a selection of flavors, on of the layers has buttercream marshmallow fondant and the other has white chocolate enriched marshmallow fondant. The silver cake stand is mine, purchased at Home Goods is part of a line called Opulent Treasures, I have cupcake stands, cake stand, dessert platters and matching candle holders, some silver, gold and a lot with tons of crystals, just dripping with bling. I rent these for $50 deposit and then you get $25 back upon return, some are a little more depending on how much the stand retailed for. Believe it or not but sometimes, especially at a wedding the stand can be very important it doesn't look very pretty to have a wedding cake sitting on a cake board even if it is silver and has flowers around it lol. I can't wait to see the professional pictures the photographer took, the florist did a great job adding that little something extra using the rose petals on the cake table. I know I would have loved this cake at my wedding and for under $600 it was a deal, a lot of cakes this size with this much detail believe it or not would cost $1,000 I make my cakes for as little as possible, I charge for the supplies and then the labor, this cake took me two days and many hours, lost a lot a sleep stressing cause wedding cakes really stress me out lol, I want them perfect. Also made a sheet cake of red velvet for the caterer to start slicing while the couple was cutting the cake so they could start passing out the plates right after then take the rest to the back and finish cutting, she had 200 guests and not a slice left over lol.
This was the photo she sent me originally that she had gotten of the internet, with the message I love this want different color butterflies, maybe white and cake to be tall, grand to serve 150-200 people and flowers on top please. My budget is $1200 and I would love to have you make my shower cake and rehearsal dinner cake also for out of town guests in similar style

Please keep in mind I can make ANYTHING, you like. If you have a favorite color, style or if you google and see a cake that you love online just copy it and email or text it to me and I can make it maybe even way better then the one you liked. Look at the sample she sent me, I think my version was way better and for way less, she was quoted $1000 for that cake for 150-200 guests I don't want to say exactly what I charged her cause I made her 3 cakes, a shower cake, cake for rehearsal dinner and the wedding cake so I didn't it as a package kind of but she paid 1200 for all three cakes and they were all gorgeous, I will post photo of the bridal shower cake, which her maid of honor picked the design. It was gorgeous a little hard to make lol, thank you Brenda but everyone loved it. Order you cake today by texting or calling Melissa at (954) 604-4713 or you can email me at DlitefulCreations@ymail.com or look me up on facebook www.facebook.com/dlitefulcreations and be sure to hit the like button while you are there I give away free stuff to every so many likes I pick #'s then who ever is that # to like my page gets the free gift. Also don't forget I do event/party planning, everything from the invitations to food, cakes, decor, centerpieces, linens, tables/chair rentals, inflatable rentals, cotton candy, sno cones, henna tattoos, glitter tattoos, candy stations, chocolate fountains, fondue, favors, piniatas, character rentals and clowns, then I do custom decorating, interior design, home staging, personal shopping, painting and all kinds of crafts. I love to make things and do diy projects all the time so there is no event, decor plan or craft I can't do and wouldn't love it in the process! My pricing is competitive and even usually a lot lower cause I understand with the economy people can not afford 300-1000 cakes, I make the cakes for the cost of supplies and most of the charge is labor cause these cakes are VERY time consuming to make even the simplest ones take hours of prepping, baking, and then decorating. I make everything from scratch and my fondant take an hour or more to make then must be refrigerated for days to be the perfect consistency for molding and working with. My cakes I usually bake the night before, then crumb coat and allow to sit over night then decorate as close to the event as possible so everything is fresh and Dliteful=)! I look forward to and hope to work with you soon on your Dliteful cake, event, party or home! Please be sure to tell all your friends about this blog and share my facebook link. I appreciate any and all advertising that is free lol.

The quest for the perfect headboard for my room!

On the mission to find the dream headboard but in a very small and tight budget. I found one for my little girls room just wanted something simple, easy to clean, soft and that I could mount her bedframe to. After weeks of patience and searching high and low I found a black leather one on craigslist for $120. It retailed for 328 brand new and it is in perfect condition. Okay so score on that one, lol. But while searching I fell in love the many headboards I saw online and decided since our new bedroom is smaller then the room we had when we bought our big furniture it is time to down size. I have changed my style in the passed few years a lot and no longer like all the wood furniture, I like a table here or there or a nice accent piece but an entire wood bed and set no thank you. I got my little one a mirrored vintage night stand for a steal at Tuesday mornings one day, all the ones I had seen were over 400 up to 1200 and I found the perfect one for her room for 69 one day while just looking around with my mom. I want something similar for my room but I saw these silver leafed tables with mirror tops and drawer fronts then I also saw a set of tables at home goods that were wood finished it was zebra wood with the light and dark stripes and the top was mirrored glass and the front of the drawers were reversible, could be brown leather front or cheetah print fabric fronts and if my style changed I could recover them but brown leather goes with anything. Anyhow of subject back to headboards. I love so many style and am so confused about the color, I am having a hard time cause I love the gray, purple and white but I change my color schemes sometimes twice in a year any time I see a new bedding set I love or accents on sale I have to have them and then my colors get all messed up. Right now my room is light blue, brown and tan, my new bedding is burgundy, gold, brown and purple. Has hints of silver in the paisley as trim but not much. I think that gold, burgundy, deep purple velvet or even black would look amazing, but I can not get myself to buy a color cause then what, have to get a new one or pay mucho bucks to recover it and it isn't easy to recover these. A lot of work especially if they are trimmed and tufted. I think black would look nice but then lint city and cream is gorgeous and elegant and one day I would love to do an all white, linen and cream romantic room, maybe when the kids are off at college and just me and hubby lol. But for now I am thinking brown, Beige, gold or cream. I am leaning towards the brown. I would do leather but very masculine and a lot of the leather ones are not arched which I know I want it to have curves for sure. Here are some I love and like, then a few neat different ones I threw in there for those who love these upholstered beds like me. These are just a few of hundreds I have viewed. Some are hand made, some are from stores like pottery barn, skyline furniture and crate and barrel. Check em out and any feed back is much appreciated.

To plain for me but nice, has nail head detail around the trim and is sold as a full bed not just headboard.

I love this one it has a unique shape and thick padding, the tufting work is gorgeous. This one is way out of my budget though like most I have seen

This is my bedding ensemble I just got different set up going on, different euro shams, pillow cases and accent pillows but almost the same, same idea. Head board is nice but the roll on top pushes it out from the wall too much and part of my decision to change the furniture is to get more space out of our room. I need something that is flat against the wall
This is the one I am considering the most, brown, can be velvet micro suede, shantung silk or just fabric. Runs from 250-350 but takes 3-4 weeks for delivery I have no patience lol.
This is gorgeous love the wing back in the chairs and beds looks so vintage and regal to me
Love the silver tone versus the gray velvet doesn't look dark and dingy but shiny and rich

Again the biggest contender I like this color also

This one I like cause it is masculine, I love leather everything especially when you have kids easiest fabric to clean and it just looks very well made but costs 2300
I think this is gorgeous, has nice shape, silver nail head trim and tufting just way out of budget here it is sold as a bed for 2000. I cant get them to sell just the headboard and if they did would be well over 1000

I posted this one cause I like the bright colors this would be nice in an island or beach home.
Elegant and dreamy this would be perfect for my white, cream and linen romantic room one day very expensive though
This one is on craigslist was asking 275 she said she would take 225 it is newly recovered and I do like the shape, the color matches my bedding but what else would it go with in the future and like I said recovering is not easy or cheap, they do have fabric paints now that you can spray on but would have to be black or dark brown to cover the purple and would that cheapen the look.
This rich purple velvet has me in love, I have been obsessing and thinking of this a lot I need someone to tell me it is ugly, hideous and I shouldn't even think about it but for 225 it is hard to resist
Now here is a concern it looks short, right? Not very tall and I have a lot of pillow including those larger euro shams, would my pillows cover the headboard? I don't want that I want it to be seen, anyhow let me know what you think. I also posted pics on my facebook page if it is easier for you to make comments there, www.facebook.com/dlitefulcreations..

I will let you all know what I pick soon.
