Buttercream fondant

Okay a lot of people have been emailing me about my fondant, if you haven't had one of my fondant cakes, my fondant actually tastes good. I only buy ready made fondant if it is black or red, cause those are the two hardest colors to achieve when dying marshmallow, or buttercream fondant. Brown is easy for me to make cause I make my buttercream or marshmallow fondant chocolate flavored when making brown or burgundy even tan sometimes, by using melted hershey's chocolate candy bar broken into pieces and added to my recipe a long with cocoa powder instead of confection sugar. Anyhow, I posted my marshmallow fondant recipe awhile back so search my post to find it, this is one way I make a delicious buttercream fondant that all my customers email and text me telling me it is the most delicious they have ever tasted, same as my marshmallow and chocolate, if you ever look when you attend a party with a fondant cake a lot of the cake plates have the fondant peeled of like an orange and they eat the inside I promise if you try my fondant you will eat it and enjoy it, It is soft, full of flavor and tastes like icing or frosting just a little harder. Give this recipe a try.

List of things you need for recipe:

1 cup of shortening

1 tsp of clear vanilla extraxt, this keep your fondant white if you want ivory use the colored extract.

1 cup of light corn syrup

2lb bag of confection sugar, baking sugar.

Food coloring GEL, I use gel cause liquid makes recipes watery even with cake batter and frosting, or even candy. They even sell a special food coloring when coloring candy when you are melting it down to make molds, or cake pops.

A large mixing bowl

Flat mat or surface and rolling pin, I grease the area and use flour so it doesn't stick, this is not as messy as my marshmallow fondant is.e icing, or the basis of some candies, that is rolled and very easy to work with.

Instructions:

    • 1

Mix together shortening, corn syrup and vanilla by hand until well blended. It will be lumpy. Don't expect to get it smooth just yet.

    • 2

Add the confectioners sugar to the mixture, about 1 cup at a time. When the mixture gets stiff, start using you hands to knead the ingredients together.

    • 3

Dump the fondant out onto your countertop or hard surface. Continue to knead until it is well mixed and has a uniform consistency. The fondant should be pliable and easy to move yet not sticky; it should not stick to your hands. If it is too sticky, add just a touch of confectioners sugar until it is at the right consistency.

    • 4

Add just a touch of food coloring using a toothpick, if you would like to color your fondant. Knead the fondant until the color is uniform. You may have to add more food coloring if you want an intense, deep color.

    • 5

Roll the fondant out on the flat surface. From there, you may cover the entire cake or use cookie cutters to make decorative accents. Fondant also works great to make 3-D characters. Model it just as you would clay.

I use this recipe on a lot of my cakes and everyone loves it=) Let me know how it works out for you! Enjoy the recipe.

Guava Cupcake Recipe, one of my newest additions=)

Excited to share my newest addition to my cupcake, cake pop and cake flavors, Guava. Very popular here in South Florida and is amazing with a cream cheese or fresh cheese frosting, my husband is cuban so him and my daughter's enjoy Guava and cheese as a dessert after dinner very often in our home. I thought wow wouldn't it be great to capture this same flavor in a cupcake. I searched many different recipes and tried a few but the flavor and comparison just wasn't there, and I had some tough judges considering that is their favorite dessert. I found this recipe I believe Martha Stewart is the one who created it but it actually has amazing flavor and with my cream cheese frosting or a gouda fresh cheese frosting it was amazing, think I managed to capture that same taste as having the real guava paste and cheese. Try it out and please feel free to contact me to place an order. Cupcakes are $2.00 each and if you order by the dozen there is a price break. That includes sprinkles or topping of your choice. I also have lots of cupcake liners and wrappers for you to chose from. Please if you try the recipe please let me know how it works out for you and share photos etc with me=). Please let me know if you need a recipe for frosting I have my own cream cheese frosting and then I make a fresh cheese, I use many different types of cheese but Gouda seems to be the best with this flavor cupcake, if you need a recipe email me at DlitefulCreations@ymail.com and I will email you one from my collection. Dliteful baking to you=).

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/3 c. guava jam (preferably 100% fruit)
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c. milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a medium-size bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, and jam until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, scraping down the bowl after each addition. Add vanilla, and mix well.
  3. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk in three additions, scraping down the bowl after each. Mix until just combined (be careful not to overmix).
  4. In a cupcake paper-lined muffin pan, fill each muffin cup with batter and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center of a cupcake comes out clean, about 22-24 minutes for regular-size cupcakes or 15-18 minutes for mini cupcakes. Rotate pans halfway through for regular-size cupcakes and after 10 minutes for mini.
  5. Let cupcakes cool in pans on wire racks.

3d Martini Glass Birthday Cake!

Here are the finished pictures of the 3d martini cake I made for a birthday party for a new customer. Says, Happy Birthday Queen B! Some photos were before I actually attached all the pieces and the rest are the finished cake and then packaged and ready to go, this a 10" round, 3 layers of yellow cake, with home made cream cheese icing, buttercream and marshmallow fondant. I used pink gel food coloring mixed with some vanilla extract and Absolut Vodka to make a paint to color the front and inside of martini glass and then some edible sparkle dust in pink. The lime is made from buttercream fondant dyed in dark green and marshmallow fondant died in a lighter green the used some tools to make lines in lime so it looked realistic. Has a black fondant trim border around bottom. Cake cost $90. Was going to make it 8" round but thought it would look to cramped and small, but is possible for $75. Larger would be 12" for $120. I didn't have a martini glass to use to have for a sample of shape or size so just custom formed it. I purchased a martini glass after I made the cake for future use to mold the top for better shape and form, but for my first try I think it came out amazing and customer loved it. Waiting to here how the birthday girl liked it=). Remember I can custom make any cake, this customer called me and told me she was having a martini themed party and this is the idea I came up with. If you see a photo online of a cake you like just email it or text a photo of it to me and I can make it no matter how difficult or different it is, I even make adult themed party cakes too for bachelor parties or girl's night parties. Any cake is possible from Dliteful Creations, I love to make all types and different styles.

Unfinished, in the process custom 3d Martini glass birthday cake

Work in progress not finished just showing the beginning stages will post the final pics tomorrow after I am done, of course like all my cakes it will have a photo shoot lol! I love it and am not super happy with it cause I am a perfectionist but given what I had to use and go on I think I did a great job! Next one will be perfect going to buy a real martini glass to mold it from lol, that would have made it easier, you think lol.

Custom made, everything from the cake, icing and fondant made by me from scratch. Hand molded and cut all the pieces my self started baking at 4 pm it is 3 layers of yellow cake with cream cheese frosting for filling and crumb coat, and my delicious home made buttercream fondant. Made the pink paint from gel food coloring mixed with vanilla extract and a tiny bit of absolut vodka to turn into paint. Then dusted with edible pink dust. The lime I even hand made and put little lines in it. Love it, going to have circles and polka dots in hot pink and black will post finished product tomorrow when done, tired and need rest to finish when I am refreshed. Hope the birthday girl loves it!

Cute St. Patty's day craft you can make with your kids!

I saw these and loved them on pinterest, from babble.com. It is a leprechaun hat cupcake holder. All you need is some green, black and yellow card stock paper and cute a circle, then the strip for you to wrap around from the green to make hat, then a black strip for the belt of hat and yellow to make a buckle, I use a glue I got at Joann's have to look at the name but I bought it for glueing my pins to my charms for candle pins and discovered this glue works amazing for almost every project except thin paper makes it too wet. Then back a batch of cupcakes and use the wilton candy molds they will have it all the craft stores in shamrock shape, just got some and some green candy melts to make topping. So cute. I have stocked up on cute wrappers, candy molds, toppers, green icing, food coloring, green fondant and more I am ready to make some amazing St. Patty's day treats for everyone and even have ribbon to wrap the boxes I pack all my Dliteful Treats in, I like to think of every little detail. I have some amazing recipes like the one I shared last week for Chocolate Stout cake with Guiness beer and I have one with Jameson too. Please let me know if you want to order some custom St. Patty's day cupcakes=). Going to be doing a candy station with a masquerade theme, so shopping for lots of hot pink, black and white candy then ribbon and lots of creative cute ideas for the table decor, going to try to top any of my past creations. Pics will come after Feb 25. Going to use my cricut and cricut cake, I haven't even really started using them yet, I need to get those in effect. Enjoy the craft and if anyone makes some, post me some pics, I will post mine as the holiday gets closer, going to make these with my girls.

Valentine's day cupcakes @ BeSo Real Boutique in Cooper CIty

Had my event tonight at BeSo Real Boutique off of Sheridan and Pine Island in the Cooper City Commons shopping center. Was a lot of fun, was a networking event with Slumber Parties by Aimee, like a Passion party and she had other business owners from Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Party Lite and many other businesses. I had a great time with other fellow females working hard on their own business adventures. Everyone seemed to love my display, candy stations and all my delicious cake balls, cupcakes and candies. I hope to do another event for them very soon=). Check out the shop it is amazing and the prices are even better!
