First Communion Cake made by Dliteful Creations

My custom made 1st Communion cake for a boy:

Here is some photos of the 1st Communion cake I custom made for a client. It came out gorgeous, she wanted something simple and elegant I think I accomplished that=). I think it came out gorgeous and most important Adrianna loved it, I hope her son and her family enjoy this gorgeous creation.

Description of cake and how it was made:
I hand made the Rosary beads using fondant for the blue and cross and gum paste for the white and then added some edible shimmer dust in white to make them stand out. I used marshmallow white fondant to cover the cake, and to make the cross in center, cut ribbons of fondant and formed a cross then used blue fondant circle with edible shimmer dust to cover where the pieces united in center. The ribbon I purchased at the local craft store was going to make a blue ribbon of fondant with a fancy print on the fondant but customer liked the look of real ribbon so got two different ones and had her pick which one she liked the best, we went with blue to match the fondant with white polka dots to go with the blue polka dot trim. The hardest part of this cake was the hand made fondant and gum paste rosary, I wanted to string the beads together so it would hang, but the beads would break apart so ended up using white chocolate to stick them together one by one then stick to top of the cake. Hand made the cross and added some small white pearl shaped sprinkles to the top of it to give it a custom look to match the cake, the blue circle on top also has the white sprinkles bordering the circle. I was contacted by a customer of mine to make a boy's first communion cake she wanted something simple but elegant so I searched google high and low for ideas and found a cake that was smaller but like this one and sent her photos along with a few other ideas, then I customized the one she picked to be perfect for her event. She needed it bigger to serve more guests and I think it looks amazing and maybe even better then the original. lol. I love creating customized creations for my customers and most rewarding is when they come to pick it up and absolutely love it.

Cake is yellow moist recipe, one of my most popular cause it is so delicious and moist, then I made three layers and filled with home made buttercream frosting, trimmed off the access and then crumb coated the entire cake. I then rolled the hand made marshmallow fondant to fit the cake and trimmed the access, then smoothed over cake, while the fondant sat to harden a little, I started cutting out the custom dots, cross and the night before I had made the beads for rosary and cross, then dusted with edible shimmer dust in white from Wilton. All in all this was a fun cake to make and couldn't be happier with the end result.
